Al Zonsius

With over a decade of experience in reproductive health, Al is a board-certified nurse-midwife dedicated to providing thoughtful, patient-centered care. In her role at Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles, she supports individuals through pregnancy, birth, and beyond, while also caring for patients across the full spectrum of gynecologic health.

Her work is grounded in a deep belief in consent, bodily autonomy, and the power of education. She founded The Period Academy to bring these values to the next generation — because she believes that education is empowering, and there is no better time to empower someone than when they are first learning about their changing body.

Through The Period Academy, Al creates engaging, age-appropriate spaces where young people can build confidence, ask questions, and develop a strong foundation of knowledge about their health. Teaching in-person sessions is one of the most meaningful parts of her work, and she is passionate about growing the company to reach and empower as many kids as possible.
